early 90's USA network shows

I think this was a USA Network show. There was also La Femme Nikita....anything else from that time period?

La Femme Nikita was actually late 90s, not early 90s. But anyhoo, ummm...some shows from USA in the early 90s? Silk Stalkings was really the only one I watched off of USA Networks until La Femme Nikita came out in 1997...though I did watch several of the bad B-movies that they showed on USA Up All Night. That said, I do remember names of a couple other shows on in the early 90s because of ads that came on during Silk Stalkings. Let's see there was Kung Fu: The Legend Continues and Renegade. Those are the only two names that pop into my head at the moment. I can recall some other ads but can't remember the names of the shows at the moment.

Oh yeah, I remember that show. Wasn't that the show about the cops who rode bikes in some beach front town? If so, I saw it a couple of times, but it never really caught my fancy. Wasn't Mario Lopez (aka AC Slater from SBTB) on that show?

I used to love Pacific Blue and Renegade...

I saw Renegade a few times here and there. The reason to watch it was Lorenzo Lamas...yum!

I liked him too. He was the Native American right? And wasn't there a blonde woman named something like Cheyenne who was his adopted sister? I can't believe I remember so much when I only saw the show a handful of times.

I loved USA Sunday night back in the nineties. Silk Stalkings and Le Femme Nikita were tops! I also liked Pacific Blue, Kung Fu, The Highlander and The Bountress. Although it's been a decade, Sunday night TV is just not the same without all those great shows on USA.

I really wish that Silk Stalkings did not end the way it did in Season 5, call me nuts, but when I watch my DVD's I can only watch season 5 up till the point Rita and Chris have their impromtu shower at their office. For me that's the happy ever after ending to the series. I also wish there was a real chance of reviving the show with Chris and Rita. In TV land, they could bend the original story line and make it possible.

reply

Ooohhh, I forgot about The Highlander. Now, that was one show that I really did enjoy. In was a pretty regular viewer of it.

yeah, usa was a real good network back in the early to mid 90's. it's ok now, but not what it was... i remember like it was yesterday. monday night raw at 9, into silk stalkings at 10 & up all night on the weekends... ya' gotta love it.

reply

Yes I have to agree with you that USA Network was great back in the day but once they signed that contract and sold out to NBC that is when the network became ruined with saturation of NBC ideas. It no longer was a network of independence where you could watch or see things that no other network would show. They became a copy cat because that is what NBC wanted for USA Network. I loved USA UP ALL NIGHT and use to watch it! I even loved watching Monday Night RAW and then Silk Stalkings! Those were the days all right!

Silk Stockings was a good show, but Sweating Bullets (aka Tropical Heat) was better.

Don't forget G vs. E, the greatest show of all time!

reply

shock me, I forgot that one! am I the only one over here who remember's, I believe it was called, Eden?
it started over at ShowTime but USA, I think, showed it after 12:00 am only I can't quite reacall which night it was on. LMAO, it actually went just a little further, where nudity was concerned, that Silk Stalkings. naturally, since it wasn't produced by a cable network, the sex scenes where a tad bit better too! don't get me wrong, SS was the far better show.

thought about another one, Counterstrike! if I remember correctly, it was on right before Silk Stalking's season 2.

I loved the programming of USA Network before they allowed NBC to buy them out and take over. I honestly think NBC ruined the programming that USA Network had! I would watch Silk Stalkings and Pacific Blue but I never really got into Le Femme Nikita. When the show first started I liked it but lost interest though.

I never really got into Renegade to be honest with you but I did start to like Pacific Blue though.

I think you are thinking of Pacific Blue and I forgot about that show! I liked watching that show due to the hot looking women in it. I did not get into the show until like the final few seasons.

Man going through these threads and reading everybodies input on USA Network back in the day sure did bring back a lot of great memories for me because that was one of my favorite networks to watch back in the day! I remember Swamp Thing, Beyond Reality I believe the show was called, Counter Strike was a good show as well, and there was a show but I cannot remember the name of it though for the life of me that I got into watching and that was about a New Orleans setting for the show. Now that was a great show to watch!

I miss USA UP ALL NIGHT! I wish that it was still on today because I would be watching it right now with Rhonda Shear hosting this great show! I hate to say it but USA Networks programming is awful now with its mainstream progrmming that they have now! I hate to say it but TV Land would not put Silk Stalkings on because now they are trying to go with the reality shows that are popular with a lot of people.

I miss the old USA Network and cannot stand how it is now which is ran by NBC who coowns it with Universal Studios. Oh yeah I remember when they even showed great shows like Just The 10 Of Us, My Two Dads, Teenage Mutant Alien Fighters From Beveryly Hills which was a rip off to the popular Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. LOL There were others too that they had on!

Oh yeah do not forget about Weird Science and Duckman! Those were some great shows that USA Network had back in the day! I am sure there are more that I could list if I can remember them but cannot right now.

The New Orleans set show that lsted for 2 seasons was The Big Easy, with Susan Walters.

reply

Silk Stockings! Renegade! Lorenzo Lamas with long hair, yes plz.

i miss 90's usa network. They suck now. I kind of forgot they existed until I started remembering how awesome they used to be

reply

yea USA used to have good reruns on Sunday afternoons around 1993. If I remember right on Sunday afternoons they used to show reruns of My Sister Sam, Major Dad, Just The Ten of Us, My Two Dads, and Double Trouble.

and USA used to have other good stuff too and sometimes had good made for USA tv movies, but now I hardly ever even look to see what comes on cause it's always Law & Order reruns or something stupid like that..I mean don't get me wrong...I like that show, but since I do like that show I watch them in original airing when I can and don't need a million reruns on a network that should go back to making a few of it's own shows.

it was later in the 90's but I used to like watching The Net (tv show based on movie)

reply

G vs E was a late 90s show i think, and wasnt there like some sort of block of programming in the middle of the day where they showed reruns of The Peoples Court

reply

wow yeah. I remember silk stalkings, renegade, pacific blue, weird science, duckman, wings!, highlander, knight rider, and definitely La Femme Nikita. Which Best buy just had for 15 bucks a season. I've been going through all 5 seasons.

reply

Renegade and Lorenzo Lamas. Lorenzo Lamas always makes me think of 'Grease!' and that hoity-toity stuck-up guy he played in that movie. I about bust a gut laughing the first time I realized that it was Lorenzo Lamas. The character is so totally opposite of his character in Renegade. Anyone else realize that he was that one guy in 'Grease!'?

reply

Don't forget- SS started off on CBS "Crime Time after primetime" was the billing, before Letterman took over that slot. Back then I was a huge Dangerous Curves fan!

reply

IIRC Crimetime after Prime time featured Stalkings, Forever Knight, Dark Justice, Sweating Bullets, and a Rotating 5th show...

then after Letterman killed it, the shows either moved to USA or direct syndication, often buried on weekend Nights

COOL That you watched USA UP ALL NIGHT! I loved watching those B movies that I created a website that is dedicated to USA UP ALL NIGHT and the fans as well. Possibly you should check it out? If you like it then you could also sign the petition as well. I am trying to get this back on USA Network because it needs a little flavor added to what they have now.

They are like any other network showing the exact same things in movies and crime and drama shows. The only reason why PSYCH, MONK, and a few of the other shows that they have on there is being shown is because NBC does not have the room to show it in their programming at all. That is why they bought out USA Network in the late 90's to turn it into their sister station.

I remember Silk Stalkings as the show that always had extremely hot girls on it. There was always some hot sex scene and lots of T&A. Now USA is nothing more than Law & Order reruns.

reply

Yes the old USA Network was more for the sex appeal when it had Silk Stockings, and other shows. Right after NBC bought outUSA. Network that is when the programming changed.

You also have to consider Weird Science, Duckman, Campus Security I believe it is called but did not last very long. I am sure there are other shows that could be named during this period.

Duckman, Forever Knight, La Femme Nikita, Silk Stalkings, Wierd Science etc lots of fine shows.
Another two good shows on USA a little later were Manhattan AZ and The War Next Door. Two off beat comedies that each only lasted one season.
