Amazon, what are you doing??

So as most of you know, Amazon recently released the full second and ninth season which were incomplete before. However, like last week, the page for the second season said something has been brought to their attention so it was unavailable for a few days. Fine. However, now its back and its back to being "The best of season 2" even though the new cover simply says season 2 and its back to its original price of 35.99 even though the other seasons are now listed from 11.24 to 17.99. What is strange to me is when they had the full season (for like 4 days) it was very cheap at 15.99. Who would pay more for half a season.

Now, season 9 issues.. although they claim they now have the complete ninth season, it is still missing 1 episode (2 segments) which is the Baby sale/Steve episode. For some reason, every other day season 9 is unavailable on Amazon even though its a print on demand dvd. So obviously, its always unavailable until someone purchases it.

Whatever, im just glad season 3 finally went down to 17.99 oppose to 39.98 and i was finally able to purchase that.

There are currently two listings. There's the Best of set that comes up first if you search "Rugrats season 2", but a few listings down (or on the next page of search results) there's a regular season 2 listing for $19.99, and it lists the 650 minute runtime and four discs. That's what I ordered today, and I won't know until Tuesday if it's actually the right thing or not.

Thank you so much, i just noticed that!!

Honestly I wouldn't buy the Amazon sets simply because they're not as "finalized" as a normal DVD release would be mastered. And it's also burned on a DVD-R (I'm guessing single layer) therefore removing all the inbetween intros/credits for each episode to make the best of the video presentation. I find that very wrong. If there's one thing I want to recreate for the future generation watching this show, it'd be for them to see the opening every time they watch the next episode. That was a definite part of my childhood I wouldn't want kids this generation to miss out.

This is why I appreciate Shout's acquisition for number of Nick titles and releasing them the way they should be. Hey Arnold! under Shout's release sure as heck beats Amazon's.

So my question for Rugrats: How much longer will Amazon have Rugrats? I know Nick and Amazon struck a deal to release them through CreateSpace. Doesn't sound like it's ending any time soon since they released re-released Seasons 2 and 9 :( And it's not like the Canadians can purchase these anyway. Sigh. Why won't Nick Paramount release a complete series of their own already?

They have the credits for each episode, I thought? They have all the credits on the Doug DVD sets, anyway.

Yeah I prefer having intros intact too, but honestly for a show like Rugrats it doesn't even matter because the intro is always the same (except for the Christmas episode, which I'm hoping is intact on the new season 2 set). But at least the credits are intact which is what really matters.

I'll be honest, the only reason I didn't keep buying the AAAHH!!! Real Monsters sets when Amazon was offering them was because each intro IS different (what the Gromble yells at the end), thank goodness for Shout! Factory.

Amazon's DVDs are pretty awesome, I've never had any playback issues or anything and they look professional. Plus they're still the only way to get Rugrats (and now the first three seasons are finally complete) and Doug (which is still missing two 11-minute episodes from season 4) on DVD. Even if they're not as good as official studio-release DVDs, they're still better than relying on a streaming service.
They're also MUCH more fairly-priced now. I almost hate myself for spending so much money on them a few years ago, but I just love the shows so much that I justified it.

Really wish I had held off on the Hey Arnold! sets though, Shout!'s offerings were way cheaper and more official lol.

Got the set today and I can confirm that it IS the complete second season :D

So when you order it, just make sure it's the correct one. It's been showing up closer to the top of the search results.

It personally matters with me. Tuning into new a new episode (set of two) with an intro is something kids I watch with personally enjoy, like when we'd watch shows like Hey Arnold! This works especially when we watch one episode a when they come home from school.

Well either way, Canadians will have to spend more on the Amazon DVDs because it's only available on the American portion of the site. We'd have to pay shipping plus import fees, along with the conversion from US to Canadian dollars. This is another reason to love Shout!'s acquisition because they made these DVDs available to us - - UNTIL they made Hey Arnold a Shout Select exclusive from Seasons 3 - 5. Crossing my fingers a complete series set happens soon ...

Anyway, they're releasing new DVDs of Rugrats. Talk about it in this thread here ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101188/board/edit/231903134 )
