I own it on beta! This was an excellent show, but it was way before the Rock worked out.

I don't think, therefore I am not.

reply

This show has nothing to do with the Rock. This show was about some fat black guy and the Rock was never on the show.

reply

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Rock was fat on this show. It was before he made the transition into wrestling, so the Rock we see now is in better shape.

I don't think, therefore I am not.

reply

The Rock was not on this show at all. I used to watch it occasionally and the title character was this fat black dude who went to jail once.

reply

No, the Rock you're thinking of is the one with Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes where these people have a bomb on Alcatraz.

I don't think, therefore I am not.

reply

No, I know what I'm talking about. Look at the show description and the list of characters/actors. The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) does not even appear in the credits. You're mistaken.

reply

Dwayne Johnson is his wrestling name. His real name is The Rock because he had it changed. Just like the Ultimate Warrior had his real name changed to Warrior.

I don't think, therefore I am not.

reply

If you look, you see the person who played "Roc" on the show's name is Charles Dutton. Evidently, that's not the same guy who wrestles. Even if he supposedly "lost weight," look at the guy's face and skin complexion.

reply

Snipes is not in The Rock. The Rock is not in the TV show, ROC Live. ROC was about a garbage man naemd Roc Emerson (Charles S. Dutton), his wife Eleanor (Ella Joyce), his brother "Joey"(Rocky Carroll) and "Pops" (Carl Gordon). It lasted about four seasons and was a decent way to spend TV time in the early 90's. I see no one has brought up ROC Live CORRECTLY yet. Let's open a forum...and please, no "trash" talk...get it? >>>> Can anyone help? Does anyone know the ORIGINAL artist performing the accapella do wop version of God Bless The Child on the show during the 1st season? Anyone with the series at home can look up the credits. PLEEEEASE. I have heard from Harry Belafonte through to Lou Rawls and I don't think that is right. Please reply a post here (for me and others) but also let me know here; [email protected]. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, in advance for your findings!

ginettejg - perhaps you've found the answer to your question re: the singer of the original "Roc" theme song by now....maybe the answer has materialized on Google within these past 10 years. All I know is that for a few seconds, the singer sounds like Dennis Edwards of the Temptations. Only for a few bars, though.

The rock was not on this show I loved show

reply

Well.... This show is about a black guy named ROC EMERSON, who is played by Charles s. Dutton. Which has nothing to do with the wrestler THE ROCK, even though THE ROCK is black too. (Mixed with Samoan/Black.

This is directed toward the original poster, and the poster who said the show is about a fat black guy. Lol.

reply

Boy, are you dumb. The show we are talking about here is called Roc, which starred Charles S. Dutton as Roc, a black garbageman in the inner city of Baltimore. It was a fantastic show.

reply

I looked and The Rock was never in this show. Who's dumb now?

I don't think, therefore I am not.
