Episode where kid gets shot because of his jacket.

Just watched this episode "Terence Got His Gun" and thought it was pretty realistic.


Roc and Eleanor are outraged when they learn that Sheila's "boy"friend, Terence, carries a handgun to school to defend himself against the teen thugs that have already stolen his shoes and money in previous encounters. Days later, after Roc gets on his case about guns not being the answer, Terence is shot and killed in front of Roc's house.

In Roc's tirade he says "a gun only leads to one thing, a bigger gun" and the the solution is to give up the jacket. Roc also proceeds to talk to the school, and the thugs parents to try to initiate some adult intervention. Nevertheless, Terence still ends up dead by the end of the episode.

So my question is, if anybody has any ideas:

What is the right solution? Is there a solution?
