This show is needed in today's times BADLY...does anyone agree?

If one has to ask why, then one has been living off the grid...

I agree so much. This was a positive show and I'm surprise this show got 7.4 on IMDB. That is a great score the show should have lasted for 5 seasons at least.

So true. I think positive/realistic shows like Roc have a hard time cause ignorance sells unfortunately.

To do social/serious issues in situation comedy is not an easy thing to do.

Since early 70s sitcoms have tried to incorporate real life issues into comedy much like All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, the Jeffersons or MASH. But many fail because the comedy isn't smart, the jokes aren't that funny.

There's nothing wrong with sitcoms covering serious issues but the comedy needs to be written well. The audience is smart enough to know when they're being preached to. With Roc it's all quite evident.

Now take Girlfriends, Fresh Prince or even Bernie Mac could be funny and serious without preaching to the audience.

They way it's been explained to me is that comedy appeals to a persons intellect and drama to a persons emotions.

To really understand a joke one needs to know what is being commented on.

Comedy is more than just one liners and bad puns which is what most situation comedy has become.

That's what I and many others liked about Roc. I rather get preached positivity than have the stereotypical ignorant trash thrown down my throat.
