I liked it better when the show wasn't live

Because when it was live, it took the realness out of it. It was like we was watching a play.

Look at the cast and production crew, alot of them are from thearter.

The irony is that the live show was supposed to make the show more 'real.' I agree that the effect was that it became more stage-y and artificial. Imo, the earlier, taped shows were better.

The taped episodes were better. The live episodes seemed as all you said "stagy". There were also flubbed lines(especially by Carl Gordon as Pops). Though their were some great live episodes like when Debbi Morgan guest stars and gives birth to a stillborn baby, and when Roc is arrested for being in a white neighborhood.

I have to disagree.I actually think it was better acting in the live episodes. It's specially in the episodes that u mentioned.I think they did a good job considering it was no editing.

I liked the show live, but I do agree with Carl Gordon did kind of flubbed through his lines a few times. However I liked the live takings because it gave people who never been to a live taping of a show how things are done. I like how the actors would rush to the next set after the show went to commercial break.

Yea I noticed a few actors slipped up on there words a few times. But they all did a good job though.

I like it either way. It was funny seeing in between takes the camera men and actors/actress on set change settings or whatever they do.

There's a difference between shooting in front of a live audience and doing a live broadcast.

I love all of the episodes but I have a preference for the live ones. They are exciting to watch, even now. The flubs don't matter to me because what they are doing is already so challenging and they do it better than most actors would.

What's pretty amazing about the live season (did they go back to taped episodes for the last season?) is that there were a number of guest stars who were inexperienced actors working on those live episodes - "actors" such as Tone Loc, etc.. That was courting disaster, lol - but somehow they managed to pull it off.

Yeah - it was pretty funny to see all of those non-actors (crew) flood the set as they went to commercial break....I remember spotting one guy who looked like he had a script in his hand and was getting ready to remind Ella Joyce of her lines for the next scene. Also - all of the actors (and crew) hugging each other on the set at the end of each show was a pleasant sight.
