West ruined the series by being Nickelodeon's lap dog

When Nickelodeon fired John K. and Billy West (who John thought was his friend) stayed and ruined a truly great series. Why the backstabbing West is on this page and not the Creator and True Voice of Ren is beyond me.

Yes, because Billy West wrote, directed and produced the series, all by himself, after John K. left.

Seriously. I mean we all know the voice behind the character makes all the decisions on how cartoons go. What an ignorant statement. Not like he deserves it but blame bob camp.

There is a little something called being on contract. John K was fired for his own inability to meet the shows budget or time constraints. If you wanna blame anyone then put the blame were it belongs and that's on John K himself because it was in own fault for getting fired in the first place.

It is even more Klasky-Csupo's own fault that they can't have warmth in their cartoons which for some reason dominated Nickelodeon and that no one working with them could draw - Ren and Stimpy itself though was funny and Slainmonkey, you may be right but Billy West STOLE the voice of Ren,
basically ripping off the voice of the dog instead of using his OWN (but then with all fairness to John K. so I will not be the pot calling the kettle black, John imitated Peter Lorre and some others for Ren).

In the long run Ren and Stimpy in 1995 was called as it had used the John Seely/Capitol canned production music so known from 40s-70s TV shows and those six Looney Tunes like
"Weasel While you Work" with Foghorn Leghorn and many B movies.

In particular, it was Bill Loose and Emil Cadkin and some others who countersued each other for on-label rcord credit and paychecks that seems to have LEGALLY stalled R&S. I doubt canned music is used, save SpongeBob Squarepants, on many Nicks shows. Stuff like Universal's "Steven Spielberg Presents TIny Toon Adventures"(based on the Warner Bros.Looney characters) and Disney's feature "Lion King" got acclaimed for using "Carl Stalling" type "dedicated scoring" just like a big budget theatrical flick. That explains why canned music like on Ren and Stimpy doesn't seem to be used, but the legal soundtrack issues would explain it as well. In 1995 the Capitol head Ole Georg (who succeeded John Seely in 1963) lost a disupute over licensing rights with the stock cues. THat would explain why eventually the show was removed but that only covers Capitol Production Music, not the other stock cues like APM)..

At least Nick fired the Rugrats show, anything looking LIKE it and their producers. Good for them.

Amanda Bynes is hot, and Lindsay Lohan is not.

They didn't fire them, they just stopped asking them to make shows for them as they weren't making as much money as they used to and cancelled their shows. (With Rugrats facing cancellation twice)

Anyway, I think Klasky Csupo's shows do have heart to them for the most part (Especially Rugrats), personally. That's what made Rugrats so appealing. They dominated Nickelodeon because of the success of Rugrats (Which didn't take off right away. It was Ren and Stimpy that took off first) which caused the channel to ask Klasky Csupo to make shows about certain 90s trends at the time.

It's a shame that Ren and Stimpy was cancelled the way it was :/. But even so, Rugrats didn't cancel it. It was cancelled because of low ratings and losing popularity.

Well even when John K WAS voicing Ren he was still at various times still voiced by Billy West for when ever Ren screamed or laughed John K's vocal range was too limited. It only made sense that Nick would cast Billy West to replace him in the first place as it likely costed less only paying one actor when they gave John K the boot (for very legitimate reasons), particularly since he already had voiced Ren other times. I think it's hash as West was more or less thrust into an already established character and likely would have been met with worse reception had he tried to go a completely different way with it.

The show is still In my humble opinion an unarguable and complete classic.

Amanda Bynes is hot and Lindsay Lohan is not.

It obviously ruined Billy's career. I can't believe he didn't agree to return for Adult Party Cartoon. It would have restored credibility.

NOT.
