Hot Fuzz

I wonder if Edgar Wright saw the first episode of 'Murder Most Horrid' (The Case of the Missing - S01E01) when he was a teenager. It reminds me of his film 'Hot Fuzz' so much.
On its own the story is only loosely similar, but when combined with the location, accents, acting style, humour, dialogue, etc it's uncanny.

It's odd that this show isn't better remembered or more acclaimed because you can see it's influence, especially Dawn French's brilliant characterisations, all over things that came later (even though the episodes are pastiches of other things themselves. )
