Does anyone know which skit I mean?

I think this was on Liquid TV, but not sure. It involved some kid in an inner-city apartment somewhere, looking for a prize or something in a cereal box, after watching the pitchman for the cereal on TV. It was this caricatured superhero type guy, complete with oversized chin. He says something to the effect "TRY IT...KIDDIEEEEESS" with a sinister smile. The only other thing I vaguely remember is the end of the skit, the hero guy says "OHHHH, I'M SOOOOO SCAAAAARED" to the villian (sarcastically) and then gets a huge knife right thru him.

Can anybody put together what I'm talking about through this fragmented cartoon memory?

At first I thought it was "Nietzsche Pops", but it's actually "Grinning Evil Death."

Thanks so much, although after doing some research, starting with the link you gave me, I am now not so sure that it was from Liquid TV (but definitely the same time period...1990).

That's strange because that short was featured in Liquid TV and had a superhero speaking in a sarcastic tone. If you eventually find out, come back and let us know the title.

Well, actually I was wrong AND right. It DID appear on Liquid TV, but also in something called "Computer Animation Festival, volume 1." I do recall watching the skit on a videotape, and not necessarily on TV.

I know this one. It is my favorite one, which is why I can recall so much about it. I wish I had it on DVD.

Yes, a kid watching commercials for the cereal. I don't remember the name of the cereal, but the box had an endorsement along the lines of, "Captain Sarcastic says..." The phrase ended with something like "stuff it," but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the phrase used.

Anyway, a giant robot cockroach shows up and terrorizes the city. It's a classic Godzilla-like scene.

The boy runs away from it on the street and bumps right into Captain Sarcastic. I can almost remember what he said. Even though we quoted it on a regular basis in college, I may be off on the exact wording. It went something like:

What's the matter?
Scared of a little... buuuuuug? *obnoxious getting into kid's face*
Ooh, I'm so scared.
Ha, ha! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha....<splat> *giant foreleg of mechanical cockroach impales Captain Sarcastic*

I just loved it.

In the end, the kid climbed up on top of the giant bug, ripped off a hatch, and found a real cockroach pulling levers and laughing maniacally. The kid squishes it.

Damn, now I must start a quest to find these episodes on DVD. My wife might not enjoy this show as much as I did, but it was some fine stuff.
