The goof listed here is not a 'goof'...

<<Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Tom frequently refers to the family's vehicle as a "truck" when it is actually an SUV.>>

I've driven a small SUV in the past, and I've had strangers and certain friends that refer to it as a truck. Dunno why they just do.

I live in the south and basically you either drive a car, a truck, or a van...it's quite simple. :)
I don't know anyone who actually calls their SUV a "SUV"...and I didn't even hear the term SUV until I was in college in the mid-90s.

reply

Yeah, and before that it was "Station Wagon"

SUVs and some older vans are still classified as Station Wagons. I never understood that.

I was filled with rage when I saw this "error". There is no such thing as an SUV, there is no 'SUV' vehicle classification. They are almost all classified as light trucks with the exception of a few small ones being cars and a few large ones being medium duty trucks. The term is a buzzword started in the 90's. During the time this show was made 'truck' was perfectly acceptable and accurate as it still is today in many places. Besides, nobody would take anybody seriously if they yelled QUICKLY GET TO THE ESS YOO VEEEEE!!!!
