what kind of a name is Stink?

Back in the day this was on I always wondered about the furry one's name. What kind if name was Stink? I can't belive anyone would name anyone that unless...................

1.He really did reek all the time or.............
2.That wasn't really his name he just stank at the time and so when he say "I Stink" he was complaining he smelled bad and they just assumed it was his name!
