a WEAK remake for a MEDICORE GENERATION

the kids who grew up with this rehashed revamped bile are now in their twenties, some in their late teens, and were, then, mediocre and unoriginal, and are, now, mediocre and unoriginal...

as for those of us who had the luck of being kids in the seventies, we all kick ass.

okay, okay, okay, i WILL admit, the kids who grew up with this version of LOTL are young and some are beautiful and handsome, while the lucky of us are aging and ugly as sin nowadays...

but at least we had the ORIGINAL LAND OF THE LOST and THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS, and life, for us then, was INCREDIBLE!

(and it's all just computers and *beep* now)

I disagree. The 80s babies are the best! We got to enjoy GREAT animated series like "Animaniacs" and "Tiny Toon Adventures." Which were way better than most of the 70s cartoons. Also, LOTL is a campy, kind of sucky series, the old and the newer versions. That was kind of the appeal of it. It was campy.

And aren't you like... old enough to be our parent? Shame on you for being such a sour spirit. It's sort of sad when an old fart decides he hates an entire generation for something that someone his age probably did (I know I was not a television producer at 3 years old, when this show came out).

And to doubt our creativity and originality... you must be blind. People born in the 80s, raised in the 90s have come up with some pretty cool dances, phrases, styles, and lots of things that have changes American culture all together. Whether you like them or not is irrelevant, because the kids in the 50s loved rock & roll, while their parents thought it was evil.

You hating things younger generations had and did and said just proves how old you are. Even we're getting old now, cuz I know I hate some of the cartoons and songs that this generation of kids love. But I don't think they're unoriginal or anything... they have yet to show what they can do.

Don't be mad just because you didn't get to grow up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles like we did. You old Zoomer.

I just like to shake things up a bit...

Are you pissed that the '70s sucked or something?

Gotta go with the E-man on this one. The original LOTL (well, at least the first two seasons) was a show of very high standards. With aid from writers like David Gerrold and Theodore Sturgeon, it could hardly be otherwise. The world itself was well developed, with a distinctive alien feel. The Sleestak were arguably the creepiest villians ever to appear on children's TV. As for the Marshals, the kids argued like real siblings, but their long suffering dad held the family together, like a real dad.

Fast forward to 1991. The new LOTL lacks any consistent internal rules, functioning by the whims of the writer of the week (Like the old LOTL 3rd season). The Sleestak are buffoonish and one-dimensional (I guess children of the 90's were considered too fragile for creepy villians). And the Porter children were annoyingly precocious. Not real kids at all, they were the kind of little adults who only exist on film. And who the heck on the writing staff thought to call the paku "Stink?" Was that supposed to be funny?

There is no comparison between the Lands of the Lost.

I agree with WeirdRaptor, that's really presumptuous to define an entire generation based off the limited view you've had of them and a Saturday morning television show.

DAVID2271 I AGREE WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING COME ON THE ORIGINAL SHOW IS BETTER THAN THIS CHEESY REMAKE I SAW THIS REMAKE WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD ON ABC AND I SAW THE FIRST THREE EPISODES OF THE LAND OF THE LOST 1974 TV SERIES AND THE 1974 VERSION IS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS STUPID SHOW!!!

reply

so my generation sucks because your generation or the generation before u wants to make a remake. we as children just watch what was delivered to us

reply

The generation who watched this show had nothing to do with it's creation or level of quality, and vice/versa with the generation who watched the original version.

Besides, it's a clear sign of a miserable *beep* loser when they try to mooch personal value off of some huge group they have nothing to do with. A generation is what? 500 million to a billion people? Suck a dong dude, you're nothing, stop trying to pretend like you're not, and bashing the "Land of the Lost" 90's series isn't the best way to start if you're going to get territorial about the general age group you belong to.

Would you guys please stop letting nostalgia talk? The 70s version is just as awful as this one. At least I can admit that something I watched as a kid sucked. And besides, the 90s version has a catchy theme song :)

reply

Agreed. The 1991 remake blew chunks and the kids were annoying little brats that made you want to puke.

"MEDICORE"

Luckily, my generation became educated enough to spell "mediocre". Unfortunately very few of us had good enough taste to remember this as a great show and not just come on IMDb and whine.
