Forrest And Christina's Relationship

Does anybody have any ideas as to why Forrest and Christina's relationship started going downhill after Forrest's wife dies? Is the fact that the thrill of sneaking around is gone? Forrest may have started feeling guilty or Christina may have wanted a commitment. I know when the sequel was shown it was many years later in the storyline and Lily asks Forrest if he ever got remarried and he replied no.

I can't answer that question without going back and viewing some episodes. I know Christina was unhappy with some choices Forrest made when running for office. At one time they were under surveillance and the personal lives exposed. And I think your correct, Christina may have felt Forrest wanted a certain distance in the relationship.
