reply

having a penis does not prove anything.

just ask joe biden.

reply

PASS.

reply

The show was always limited as are most sitcoms. Asides from the Tool Time assistant there weren't any female hotties either.

reply

If you mean recurring character hotties, you're probably right, other than Heidi, the tool girl aka Debbe Dunning...and Lisa, the original tool girl for the 1st 2 seasons...aka Pamela Anderson. But, there were hotties that were guest stars throughout the show.

Good eye. Neat fact. Not a lot of people know that. Not many shows end their finale year in the top 10.

I think that number is less than a dozen of all shows ever.

But I could be wrong.

And ABC even moved it to the 8/7 time-slot to boost that night in it's final year.

I don't think "Spin City" turned out to be major hit the network had hoped for.

"The Cosby Show" was what...#16 or #17 in it's final year, while "Roseanne" fell completely off the ratings cliff in it's finale season.

reply

The show ranked 14th in its last year.

reply

It did not.

People sometimes confused between "ratings" and "viewers". And even shares back in the day.

As the article states, the numbers are compiled by the Nielsen Company

The greatest television Almanac book is:

Any TV lover should pick up the book in the used section for less than a $25.00.

reply

Home Improvement, I Love Lucy and Andy Griffith are only shows I found to be top 10 it's whole run

reply

There was a drop in quality but there were still some good ones in the latter seasons like when Jill gets recorded trashing her professor in Marks video project . Honestly any episode that showed Jills arrogance biting her in the ass was comedy gold for me.

When Home Improvement Died

Home Improvement was an incredibly popular '90s sitcom, but even massive hits like this reach the peak of their good years before spiraling down toward cancellation. So I rewatched the entire series to give you my take on when Home Improvement died.

Time Stamps:
00:00 - The argument
00:38 - Season 1: Setting Up Shop
2:35 - Seasons 2 & 3: More Power
5:00 - Season 4: Shifting Gears
9:06 - Seasons 5 & 6: More Spectacle
12:18 - Seasons 7 & 8: “The Kitchen Sink”

reply

Yeah. It wasn't as good when Mark, Brad, and Randy became teenagers.

reply

Tim's schtick started getting predictable and a bit grating. The Wilson gimimick was wearing thin. Randy started getting too sanctimonious for a sitcom and poor Mark was just awful after he stopped being cute.

reply

I’m seasons 1-3, the boys were my favorite part of the show, especially Brad and Randy. But I found that as they got older, none of them were all that great at acting.

reply

That's happens a lot on these family sitcoms with child actors. Once they hit puberty and grow up, they all lose their acting ability and become terrible actors. Jonathan (Who's the Boss), DJ (Roseanne), Ben (Growing Pains), Katie (Benson), Jennifer (Family Ties) Rudy (The Cosby Show), Max (George Lopez), the kids on Modern Family.

reply

Disagree. I very much still enjoyed Brad and Randy as they got older. I thought both actors were very good. The actor playing Mark however was the weak link

reply

The actor playing Randy was probably trying to set himself up for a bigger career and he got some chances but they never set him up long term. I only vaguely remember Mark, I think he was like this 3rd wheel in the brothers set and the writers didn't know what to do with him as the focus was on mostly Randy.

reply

Yep, the show was at it best during the earlier seasons when the boys were little. Like most family sitcoms with children, the show is never the same once the kids become grown up or hit puberty.

reply

This show is way too outdated now.

reply

I am watching it Mondays in the evening and have still fun

reply

IT'S CALLED NOSTALGIA.

reply

Not really, its still fun to watch as a traditional family sitcom.

I always found the mother to be a chore to watch. Typical of the TV sitcom mothers of the era, judgmental, no sense of humour, self important etc It made it tough to watch at times.
