What is with the characters with big noses?

I noticed this for years, most characters in this cartoon have big noses. Doug, Skeeter, Roger, Mr. Dink, Mr. Bone,(no pun intended) the mayor, and even Mrs. Dink has a big nose. Anybody else notice the big amount of big nosed characters?

Really? I'm catching up on episodes now and Patti and the blue girl had tiny noses. However,Doug's nose had to be the biggest, hence the episode in which that baby kept on calling him "big nose".
