Doug or Arthur

I think there are quite a few similarities between the two except the fact that Arthur was not yet into girls.
Even though they were aired on entirely two different networks; which cartoon did you prefer? I would have to choose Arthur hands down. I'm 31 yrs old and as a kid, it was really my younger cousin that was stuck on Doug....I watch it now for nostalgic reasons, but Authur was the show I always looked forward to and it actually made me laugh.

I never really thought to compare the two, but I like both shows. I think as a kid I would probably have chosen Doug. The fact that, as you stated, that Arthur "wasn't into girls" would have lowered my score of the show when I was a kid, because I always hated episodes where the child characters are "too young for girls/boys" or "find the idea of being kissed by a girl/boy gross" or of course, a "cooties" episode, simply because I was really into romantic storylines as a kid (and still am) so the idea of characters who were of the ages I when I would have loved a girlfriend acting like a girlfriend/boyfriend would be the worst possible thing seemed really alien to me back then.

I realize now that I'm older that some kids really are like this at that age, and this "being kissed is gross" phase does happen, it's just I never had it, so when I was younger and less mature, it seemed like an unfair and untrue representation.

Doug. I liked Arthur but in later seasons the title character is never there and that's bullcrap! The whole not being into girls is funny cause in this computer game we had of Arthur's birthday, Francine says she wants to play spin the bottle and then imagines in her head she is kissing Arthur on the lips.

arthur was for pussies

It's an interesting comparison and both shows are good but I'd say Doug. It's each of the characters are a bit more layered and it's a bit more adolescent, whereas Arthur is more elementary, not that - that is bad.

Doug had better color and design with characters. i.e Doug and his friends wore fairly varied outfits, but Arthur and a few of his friends all wear the same top, jeans and sneakers.
