Ending

Maybe I'm just remembering wrong, but I thought the end of the show was a comet coming down and the whole house was falling in and then it cut to black? Of course I was very very young when it originally aired so maybe I am remembering it incorrectly. Can anyone help?

Episode production code D365 (aired 20/Jul/94) Changing Nature actually was a nod to the dangers of deforestation & climate change. The meteor/comet thing was used on Dinosaurs as well. I'm not positive it was in that finale though. It might have just been one of the many Howard Handupme DNN News bulletins we saw throughout the series.

Just to confuse matters more, seven "previously unaired" episodes were later released after cancellation and that finale.

Eeek!!! I'm getting dressed.

The comet was the first episode. After it lands, earl tells baby we'll be here for a long time.

The ending Earl apologizes because he was hired to take care of the planet and he messed things up. Explains to baby that people didn't take very good care of nature. Shows outside, dark. News anchor says they will have lots of cold and dark. Show ends.

It can be found on youtube but if anyone puts a link here it will be copywright claimed and taken down, so you will have to go there for it.

Yes it is dark, and depressing, but no comet.

Actually the show was canceled after the third season, then ABC was burning off the last episodes over the summer/fall of 1994. But eventually pulled the show beforehand its last episodes aired.

With that the final episode became the Earl destroying plant life.

The end of the show had Earl create a nuclear winter, which resulted in the ice age, which the writers suggested was responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs. I haven't seen the finale since it last aired but I vaguely recall that the last shot was of the Sinclairs shivering in their house as it became cold outside wondering whether the weather would become normal, but the show ending on an ominous note that suggested that they and all the dinosaurs would die soon.

Yes... That ending was terribly bleak. :(

The saddest part is the baby saying he's hungry. Baby will be the 1st to die.
