A LITTLE OF WHAT YOU FANCY...

I bought the boxset and great to see again. On the interviews with Pam Ferris and Charley..they are talking about the last book in the series..that was sadly never made...Pam said there was talk on the possibility on getting this last book made..the interview was made on December 2004 so time has passed does anyone know if any progress has been made...it would be geat to see, they also talk about the volume of material that sadly ended up on the cutting room floor..they felt some episodes could have run to 4 episodes to do the stories justice...all in all the series was just perfick...I am sure H.E would have been proud of the great production

Hiya m8, yes was really interesting that audio commentry on the box set- after Pam said about how they could of made more episodes and a lot was cut out if you watch it back you can see how at times it jumps so much for example in 1 episode pop larkin had a policeman knocking at the door to give him a letter about the court hearing and the date for the court hearing is the same date for the wedding well as soon as he opens the letter 10 secs later he is in court- they could easily of had pop larkin inbetween those 2 dates showing his nervs or thniking up a plan to get himself out of it etc, so you can clearly see they rushed through some parts

Onto the other point i dont understand why they didnt film the last book at the time they did all the others? does anyone know? it was a very popular show i dont know why they didnt film the last book

As for doing it now i cant imagine you could get David Jason to do it again and to change the cast could be a disaster

reply

Age wise it's too late to use the cast as it was. Jason might be able to pull it off. The person you'd have problems getting hold of would be CZJ I'd say.

Like you say in reality its too late.

reply

I am sure that I read somewhere a few years ago in an interview, CZJ said she would jump at the chance of returning.

reply

The last one had Pop having a heart attack and spending the last book in bed most of the time

it's too late now. the last book is set about eight years after the first one i think, so it might have been possible to do it about ten years ago, but not now.
i am not sure how they could have made any of the books into four episodes, they are such slight stories. i think myself too much padding would have been required.
