I have to ask, how does The Commish compare to Mackey?

I assume the Commish wasn't nearly as corrupt as Mackey. Also, who would win in a fight of fisticuffs? And then who'd win in a gun fight?

I've never seen the Commish but I plan on checking it out.

VERY different. It's been years since I saw it. But I remember him being a likeable person.

I read Michael Chiklis changed his image and auditioned for The Shield to get away from Characters like the Commish. Since he was being typecast.

I never saw the Shield, so I don't know much about it.

But as to a fight, it would depend on which show the fight was happening. The Commish would win if the fight was on The Commish, and vice versa. Since they're fictional characters, all that would matter is how the writers wrote the scene.

Mackey was the complete opposite of Scali, the Commish. I think Mackey would kick his ass basically, although Scali did have some wit.

Mackey would kill Scali without even thinking twice about it.. He is not someone you would want to mess with..

Loved Scali and hated to see the show cancelled. I can understand his not wanting to be typecast because everytime I see him I think of The Commish.

I watched the Commish when I could, I was 13-18 so it was hard to always see it. The only episode I specifically remember are the ones where he loads his medicine cabinet with marbles (to catch is prying brother in law) and the Halloween candy one.

But I do remember a very goofy sweet oddball cop.

I'm currently binging The Shield and just finished season 6, and I have to say Vic Mackey would wipe out Tony & his entire department without breaking a sweat.

Tony Scali is Dr. Jekyl, Vic Mackey is Mr. Hyde.
