Am I the only one who thought that they should have ended up together. I know he was married and she was/is?? married to that american, but that was one affair that I would have been rooting for!!
Haha! I watched that episode last night and was completely shocked at what happened! I didn't see that coming at all. I thought they made a great team, they played off each other so well. I don't think they should have ended up together in that way but I love the chemistry between them :D

Yup they would have been great together, Laura would actually have made Gorodna far better person all round and they complemented each other perfectly, I think they both fell in love but as a comedy it would have been harsh on Helen (not averse to affairs herself).
Laura and Gordon was of course meant to be, but could never be.
I'm kinda glad they didn't get together. Not everyone who gets along well should get together. They had a great friendship. Not enough emphasis put on that nowadays.

But that's the thing they DIDN'T really get along well together. He was stuck in his "Dream" thing and she was the only one that tolerated his insanity and was able to smooth things over with the staff. (Colin also tolerated it but he wasn't right in the head to notice that it was insanity...)
I think what she loved about him was that he cared about the public -- okay he was a little insensitive to the staff and to some of the public but his heart is in the right place.

I don't think they would have lasted together if they had lived together but just seeing Gordon at work everyday may have made their friendship as 'solid' as it was. I'm not sure whether she was actually in love with him though.
Jack Lemmon: America's Sweetheart "It's Magic Time"
I only saw this episode for the fist time this week (can't think how I missed it). It certainly sets up the later scenes between Laura & Brittas. I agree with the above writer that it was a huge surprise when she went from berating him to kissing him. Brilliant comic acting from the two leads.
I loved Laura's part, Julia St John Nails the role perfectly coupled with exceptional writing, it's no surprise the final 2 series are the poorer for lack of Laura and the 2 creators.
The way the chemistry was built up with Gordon and Laura was also superb and subtle enough for the most part for people and even Gordon not to realise it until that episode
