I notice that Naomi Watts was about 23 when this was released, yet there are scenes when she and her classmates look positively adolescent especially in size (height, weight) compared to the adults. As the series progresses they actually seemed to grow. How did the cinematograper accomplish this?

In the episode "Frances" Naomi looked around 15, then in "Rosemary" she looked around 17. At the end of the episode "Catherine" she looked 23.
I congratulate the cinematographer for this, but I also wonder how he/she did this.
I also just noticed that Josephine Byrnes was 24 during the filming which means Naomi was one year younger. Wow! I would have never noticed.
Lisa Hensley was younger than Naomi when they filmed this!
