Simbold Cleobury

What did you all think of the first sketch from the last episode of season 3? There is no way they would show something like that on TV now, but Hugh Laurie had the role of the geeky Nigel Carter down to an absolute tee.

'Don't mind Clothilda, she gets a little excited when she sees strange men.' (lol)

'MY, THAT IS A JUMBO, ISN'T IT?' (LMAO)

reply

The Simbold Cleobury sketch is one of my absolute favourites! It has the established intelligent wit of Stephen and Hugh, and then there's the dirty duble entendres!

Nigel: Well my Grandfather got me started actually.
Simbold: As is so often the way(!).

Genius.

What's that? You just called me a bastard didn't you!

reply

Nigel : It was a Fokker.
Simbold : Sounds it, Nigel, and in glue you say. Well, you needn't fear, perhaps a little oil to bring out your flesh tones and nothing more. (Lol!)

Notice that Nigel Carter is the same character in the series 3 vox pops who says things like, 'Me, I'm just mad. Take for instance, the other day. Me and my mates went to the pictures...MAD!' and 'ok, what is the difference between a man and a woman? You don't know?' before asking a member of the public who simply says 'no.' (lol)
