No, Mardi Gras in New Orleans is the 3rd and 4th series. Series 1 and 2 used the Finale from The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens.

You're both wrong. I've just listened to both and compared with the show & it seems Wiki got this one scrambled.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out Mr. Laurie wrote it himself, but until some interviewer finally gets the brains to ask him where that tune comes from, I'm afraid it remains a mystery.
