Why did Kevin steal and throw her shoes?

That scene where it showed Kevin and Lucy together in that love scene, at one point when theyre on the couch, Kevin takes Lucy's shoes off and throws them across the room. Im wondering why he did that and why they showed it. It was supposed to be an intimate scene. Maybe Kevin was trying to be silly. Lucy never puts her shoes back on in that scene, she runs around barefoot for the rest of the scene. If Kevin was playing a joke of trying to steal her shoes I think she would try to get them back. I dont know why they would show that in a scene where theyre supposed to be getting intimate though.

Having seen this movie about a hundred times I think I might be able to shed some light. In the scene where they are making out all over the house it's supposed to be a playful scene. He chases her into the pantry and they come out kissing. They kiss ontop of the fridge and they chase each other a lot. This may have been for a few reasons. One would be to show the playful side of sex and of first love. The other is because the movie (although infused with some boobs and butt shots really has no sex in it) and this was a way to show a scene without getting too explicit AND in the first Zapped Scott Baio and his girlfriend make love in the science lab in a pretty tame scene, too. Oddly enough the only reason I own the dvd is for that scene. I love Todd Eric Andrews in it but the chemistry in that scene is lovely.

I'm sure there are alot of ways I've gone that you haven't.- Stripes

Well she never tries to get her shoes back. If somebody steals something from you and then throws it, I think you would want to get it back.
