where was the shooting location?

Does anyone know where this movie was filmed? it looks like Southern California, and in fact the school location looks familiar. were the outdoor school shots film on location, or was it all done in a studio?

The school scenes at least were filmed in Los Angeles County, California in the city of Pico Rivera. The school locations used were El Rancho High School and what used to be Mary E. Meller Jr. High (now an elementary school)in that city.
