Was Doc a ghost at the end?

At the end of the movie Doc narrates the ending about how Billy gets killed, but in Young Guns II Doc dies infront of Billy.

I actually meant to post this in Young Guns, not Young Guns II. But I guess this is a good enough place for it. I was talking about the first movie where Doc narrates the end.

It's just a continuity error. The second film wasn't planned until the success of the first, so the writers didn't know they'd be killing the character later.

Historically however, Doc Scurlock lived to be an old man, as did Chavez y Chavez and several others of Billy's gang. (His gang was much larger in real life, it was reduced in both films to avoid the confusion of too many characters)

Ignore this fool, it's nothing of the sort.

The second movie is not a continuation, they are told from different perspectives from different people...1 is Doc's story, 2 is brushin Bill Robert's story, who may or may not have been Billy the Kid.

Lots of planets have a Scotland...

Nice try but wrong.

This film doesn't suggest Roberts is Billy, it portrays him as Billy. Hence Emilo Estaves playing both roles.

Although it picks up a year after the events of the first movie, I would certainly consider it a continuation, since the surviving characters from the first movie all meet up again and continue to run from the law.

That's the one thing that bugged me, because the first half of Young Guns II showed so much promise, everything was excellent - the acting, the script, music, direction - and it really was better than the original. Then somewhere in the half-way point of YG II, they fell down a hill with their horses, lol. funny they came away from that without injury. Then the brilliant scene between Doc and Billy, which led to the random piece of dog crap that ruined it for me: the writers decided to have Pat Garrett kill off Doc Scurlock (which wasn't historically accurate at all, plus it contradicted Doc's narration in YG1). A few scenes later, we found out that Chavez was also shot and he just wandered off to bleed out and die in a cemetery. And then Emilio gets laid... twice. It was just so sad it was almost laughable, and truly a letdown for me after seeing a great first and second act of the movie, just to see it drop the ball by the third, IMO. So yeah, I didn't like that YG II's ending sucked, and the unnecessary deaths of the two best characters pull down the score for me. If it weren't for that, it would be a movie that I would have really loved.

IIRC they didn't want to do a sequel, and when obliged to do so, made sure that there couldn't be another. Hence the deaths.

I find concussion quite invigorating.

Yes I heard about that, and it's a pity. Kiefer recently said he very much regretted that decision.
