Where in the @*%+ is the BLU RAY?

It has been released on blu in multiple countries but not the US. What the hell gives?

reply

Amazon lists it as temporarily out of stock... So order it from Canada. www.amazon.ca

all blu rays are the R rated cut which makes it a no sale for me

you will have to forgive the lack of full stops lack of proper spelling im dyslexic but not stupid

It's an MGM title, and Criterion does major business with them. Criterion also has the rights to Eraserhead, and rumored to have Mulholland Drive. I'd sit tight for a little while, it'll happen soon. The fact that he's revered as one of the greatest American filmmakers of all time, and yet only one of his films has a blu-ray in the U.S. is ludicrous.

I got MD, IE, and LH as a BluRay three pack on Amazon for 60 bucks. German, but work great on my player.

Last Movies seen:

INLAND EMPIRE:9.55/10
Shooter:6.73/10
The Good Shepherd:7.89/10

I agree that it's ludicrous, although there are actually two Lynch films out on Region 1 blu-ray: Blue Velvet and Dune. Both are excellent discs. The fact that Criterion has Eraserhead and the Lynch short films seems to indicate a Criterion special edition of Eraserhead, something they have strongly hinted for a 2013 release. However, it wouldn't be hard to get Inland Empire, and Criterion has done business with Paramount, which has The Elephant Man, so theoretically, Criterion might have something bigger up their sleeve. That would be amazing, as all of these films need blu-ray upgrades. Maybe the numbers for Blue Velvet and Dune weren't good? I kind of doubt that.

Buy the Australian Blu ray in the meantime.

From Twilight Time, so probably one of the 'limited to 3000' titles

I just pre-ordered the Twilight Time blu-ray. It was kind of expensive, but I have a horrid feeling that these will be the only 3,000 Wild at Heart blu-rays released Stateside...

reply

Probably. I recall Christine selling out quick...now it's over $100 on Amazon or ebay.

And the quality of their discs is usually superb, based on reviews I've seen

reply

Yeah, I remember when they released Christine. I don't mind spending $30 on Wild at Heart. The supplements (missing deleted scenes notwithstanding) look great and I definitely don't want to be spending $100 later. It's a good investment, I decided. I also got a copy of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, which apparently has sold over half its units after being out for only a couple of weeks. I don't think I've ever spent so much money (over $60) on just two movies before, but I think it will be worth it... especially if it convinces Twilight Time to release more Lynch and Peckinpah films! Here's hoping that Lost Highway is in the works...

reply

I always look forward to their announcements. Olive Films and Shout Factory too...and you can never go wrong with Criterion. I watched Harold and Maude tonight; what a great job they did on that one

reply

Here's the first review I've seen of the U.S. Twilight Time Blu-ray. It features comparisons with previous editions. Good special features too.

Just got a used copy of the TT WaH disc for 40$ or so, looks great!

reply

The TT version also has the 'clouding' effect in THAT scene. Does anyone know if there's a blu ray version without the clouding? I have the MGM UK version without but when I bought the Universal version I was shocked to find the clouding.
