This film was a bit left of center, it was weird to see Clint Eastwood not act like Clint Eastwood and actually portray something different he pulled it off in the end.
This film is worth watching it looks a bit dated but it has an extremely interesting and somewhat appealing character in Clint's take on John Huston he looks as if he would of lived a rare and probably enjoyable life..
I would think almost all of the movies Eastwood directed would be left of center. This film had many common themes with Eastwood's later masterpiece UNFORGIVEN.
Eastwood's "right" movies would be the ones he was only an actor in (Dirty Harry, spaghetti westerns, etc.)
As he was portraying a John Huston type character, then he had to play it differently.
The movie was rather different because of the source material and it was inspired by true events.
Its that man again!!
... it looks a bit dated ...Bear in mind the film is set in 1951. I think the sets and costumes look great. .
