kinda reminds one of....

The Hotel New Hampshire. Satirical, absurd characters, each unique like the 7 dwarves, and makes no damn sense whatsoever.

"Hotel New Hampshire" is an excellent comparison.

It also reminded me of late '80/early '90s "urban chic" films like "Slaves of New York" or Paul Bartel's black comedies, particularly "Scenes From the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills," which skewer the establishment and also the anti-establishment art world.

yeah, i was reminded of "Scenes from the Class Struggle" as well, and also at some points of "The Fisher King" (in the sense that Boorman's intense visual style is framed somehow within the conventions of 90s dramedy much as gilliam's was, and also some of the attempts to deal with homelessness in a serious and dramatic way at the same time. Again that's also true of Bartel's "Scenes."

Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'

Very good points on both "Scenes From the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills" and "The Fisher King."
