It's on the 20th, or 25th anniversary dvd of Oprah. (sorry, can't remember exactly how long Oprah's been on the air)

I saw it and another one on Donohue at the same time. My ex-husband was a faithful watcher of Donohue and that is how I found out about her. Oprah says Truddi was her first guest ever when she was starting out on radio. There used to be a very short clip from Oprah on line.

I'm all right, I'm alllll right!

I don't usually watch Oprah but this one certain day I must have been skipping through channels and came upon Oprah Winfrey crying. I mean really crying.. tears that would not stop coming. Beside her was a blonde woman. I don't know how old Trudie was but her blonde hair was thin and she was as lovely as they could make her through the wear and the damage to her psyche, which showed through her transparent-like skin. I sat and listened. I found out why. Her story of the abuse she suffered at the hands of that stepfather have never left me. Her words burned into my brain. The actual words she said have been forgotten (except for one or two instances of extreme cruelty) but the scar remains. That happened about 20 or so years ago. I never read her book. I couldn't bring myself to do that.
