Tim Roth

The movie was good - I thought the music was a bit off - but all the preformances were admirable, especially Tim Roth's.

He was nothing short of phenomenal in this movie. I think he defies nature somehow. I mean, wow, one of the best performances I've ever seen. Ever.

I agree. He did a fabulous job with the subtle tortured soul role. This is my favorite work of his too date. I also agree with first poster who said that the music was a bit off...I just didn't think it fit right into certain areas of the film but overall this was a great movie.

He indeed did a fabolous work with this movie! I'm really delighted! :)

Still, I'd consider this equal to La Leggenda del pianista sull'oceano, which I until seeing this considered without doubt Roth's best work.

Tim Roth's teeth were fugging bad in this movie. I wonder how he managed to make them white and straight again.

I've seen a few other actors try to play Van Gogh and I must say I don't think anyone compares to Tim Roth's Van Gogh.

No one else can play Van Gogh now, I don't think.

The music was really odd in the movie, but other than that it was fantastic.

Roth was amazing as always! To the poster about his teeth. . . good grief. . . it's a film -make up? prosthetics? hmmmm?

His teeth were supposed to be that way, obviously, since he was EATING his PAINTS. Whether or not that is an accurate portrayal of the REAL Van Gogh, we will never know, but if you ate at oil paint, linseed oil, and drank turpentine, you'd not only have black teeth, but go a bit mad, too. Oil paints back in those days were made with some very caustic materials.

I've been reading the real life letters from Van Gogh to his brother, and in several of them he mentions his teeth getting loose. He seems to have been very malnourished and sickly in real life, only ever eating bread and coffee. His teeth were all loose and falling out and he had very little vitamin intake.

Definitely one of Tim's best performances, top three for sure! Wish this had a blu-ray release, I bet it would be so beautiful, especially the field scenes.

"Legend of 1900" was a miraculous performance. He plays snarky really well in "Vatel"..... he makes your skin crawl. "Youth without Youth"... BRILLIANT! Watch his directorial debut "The War Zone". Am so disappointed that "Vincent & Theo" is still only available in it's cut-down version in Region 1... unless someone knows something new?

Tim Roth is amazing in this, he can't not be great in anything. I've been a fan of his acting for twenty years, which is why I was so disappointed that the Fox show Lie To Me is so poor.

This is an excellent movie and I enjoyed the music very much.

To the casual listener, the music is odd and all over the place, but that is exactly what makes it appropriate. The music is as eccentric and frenetic as the subject himself. The middle of the road Howard Shore/Alan Silvestri scores are too classy and logical for this picture.

I thought that this topic will be about how bad was he. Because his manners felt like from our generation. For me, he was much worse than a stubborn Kirk Douglas in Lust for Life.
