I know the story had some influence, but do you think this movie might have had some as well?
shareRon Gilbert said the main influences for Monkey Island were the Pirates of the Carribbean ride and the book On Stranger Tides (parts of which were incorporated into the movie Pirates of the Carribbean: On Stranger Tides). It is ironic because a lot of the plot points for Dead Man's Chest mirrored Monkey Island 2.
sharei have fond memories of those games from when i was a kid, i think the later ones came out on playstation. they had the magic to them, and you felt you had control over the buttons, i'm not alone with the opinion that older games are more fun to play. i remember i wanted to see a movie like the monkey island games and then years later pirates of the caribbean came out.
