Quaid stuck in a loop in his dream?

Imagine him after saving Mars waking up next to Lori, freak out, run away, go to Mars, meet Melina, kill the bad guys and save Mars over again and again. Could have different outcomes if he's stuck in a dream loop like the opening scene of him falling over a Mars cliff could be a loop of something similar to the first and second acts but this loop goes out onto the Martian surface with Melina and falls over a cliff and die.

Melinda could be a fantasy image that ended up part of the dream loop that became of what it would seem like he's dreaming about every night like he vaguely remembers a previous loop.

I never thought this before, being a "Dream Loop".

It prolly closes all the "plot hole" type comments and possibly ends the: "It all happened" vs "It was a ReCall program" vs subsequently "Lobotomy" conflicting arguments.

Very interesting indeed!

Back in the day, I heard that the film was supposed to end with the girl saying something like "... and you defeated the villain, saved the planet, and there's a happy ending". It was supposed to show that the whole story had been the fantasy he'd paid for, but the filmmakers decided against it.

They decided to make the adventure real. Was it different in the remake?
