The Running Man and Total Recall are related

Schwarzenegger movies set in the future, both have a Latina leading lady and middle aged villain, black and blue storm troopers and 80's fashions.

reply

You could say that about a ton of 80s movies.

While this probably could be applied to other flicks around this time, the connection between these two movies is closer than one might think. And by that I mean, The Running Man is really just another dream or fantasy of Arnold's character in Total Recall. Or is it vice versa?

No proof of this, I'm merely adding another theory to this endless debate. :D

reply

Both are about a running man in the future.

reply

But to be fair, this can be said pretty much about all movies... or almost all movies. What is it about a running man that we find so interesting, hmm ?? :)

reply

A lot of Arnie films are chase movies.

Nearly every Philip K.Dick movie is a chase movie.

reply

Both are based on a book or short story made into an Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle starring Arnold as a stock Arnold character in a movie featuring a stock Arnold plot.

And, as I remember, the tech is quite similar. One example is when Lori in TR uses a hologram to lean tennis. Doesn't Running Man crash a place one time doing yoga that uses same hologram type teaching?

reply

Had sporty women like Lori on TV and gray architecture

reply

Both have the Tri-Star logo.

reply

yeah , they are both written by the same guy, and so could be in the same universe.
so whos to say it isnt the same city?
The only weird thing is theres 2 guys running around who look just like Arnie!

reply

Running Man was written by Steven De Souza based on a Stephen King novel under his pen name and Total Recall by Dan O'Bannon, Rob Shusett and Gary Goldman based on a Philip K.Sick story.

reply

ah , I stand corrected , i thought they were both PKD.

reply

Both movies are American!
