Wasn't it obvious to Richter that Cohaagen had a plan?

With him wanting Quaid alive on Earth.

Didn't occur to Richter, Lori, Harry and the others that Cohaagen was holding something back and had something planned with Quaid?

reply

And also Richter should know Hauser... strange they apparently did not know that Quaid was actually one of their colleagues.

Quick to believe Hauser was all of a sudden a traitor.

Did they question why did Cohaagen go through the trouble of turning Hauser into Quaid?

reply

Ricther seemed very eager to end him. And it makes sense as this hunk of a man was banging his wife for the sake of some unknown mission... to me it is odder that no one seemed to know Hasuer, except Kohaagen and Melina. Given Hauser's position he should be known by Richter and his men - and Lori at the very least. Of course perhaps they did know Hauser; it just was as though he was only a rogue Quaid agent to them, and not the deep undercover executive.

Anyway, this flaw and the whole "him sleeping with Richter's wife for no other reason that he needs to sleep with someone" is so odd that it helps the whole "it is a dream" explanation even further.

Nope, and the movie is not really that clear about it either. My best explanation is that it is because his brain is making it up as we go along.... to be fair though, Cohaagen did explicitly express they were on a need to know basis, and so this is a way out of your question :-)

How could they not know Hauser except Cohaagen and Melina?

Think Richter and his men didn't care about what the whole thing was about other than his own life.

Pretty stupid to ignore orders with a need to know basis.

Hauser turning out to be bad was a final draft rewrite.

Of course Richter and the others knew Hauser very well. It's obvious that Richter envied him badly because Hauser was Number 1 for Cohaagen. But for all Cohaagen henchmen (including Richter and Lori) Hauser was a traitor who had been sent to Earth as Quaid by Cohaagen in order to find some possible way to use him in the future as his henchman. It's obvious that Hauser was priceless for Cohaagen so he wanted to find any possible chance to save him (of course, Cohaagen wanted everybody to think so). After Quaid (unintentionally for him and intentionally for Cohaagen and Hauser) visited Rekal Richter got a chance to kill him because his envy made him hate Hauser. And in addition to that Hauser (as Quaid) had slept with Lori.

reply

Yes you are right. They did know Hauser. Not his role, but nothing tells us he was an unknown soldier to them.

Another indication it maybe a dream because it seemed a bit odd they had Richter there who's a liability, the dream scenario the dream attacks everything related to his self esteem and personal life.
