I wish there were more movies like this with older characters and subtle supernatural vibe. There's alot of superstition involved in this movie that come from old wives' tales of African American lore. Harry's presence obviously was a catalyst for Gideon's illness. There was alot of discussion about who Harry was supposed to be. "Harry" has been used as a name for evil in different situattions. Either the devil or just a demon like Loki.

I wish more people had seen this movie. And more black filmmakers would make movies like this. Dark but subtle. Love the soundtrack. Great blues. No hip-hop.

I haven't seen this movie (I'm tryin to find it) but it seems like I would love it. If you like "black gothic" as you call it, then try Eve's Bayou...if you haven't seen it you should definitley check it out.

I saw Ev'e's Bayou years ago. Very good movie. I wish I could find more black movies like these.

I recently just saw a film called "Crossroads", I bought it at Best Buy. I think you would like that too, and just in case you're wondering...no, it's not the Britney Spears movie. It's has to do with the blues and a a bluesman who has sold his soul to the devil. It was a very nice film.You can look it up on imdb.

Yeah, the one with Joe Seneca and Ralph Macchio. I saw it when it came out. It was kind of corny though. Not really very dark except for that flashback scene at the crossroads.

Good luck. I'd like to see a movie like Skeleton Key which involved voodoo, with a black cast. Though the main antagonists were black spirits, the actors were white. It was a pretty good movie with a cool twist.
