The sound mix ruins this film

It's a real shame that although this isn't really a great film the way the sound is mixed really spoils it to make it a terribly hard slog to watch. I think it's the worst sound production I've seen in a film. Sometimes the music is way too loud and interferes with the dialogue and occasionally it's like it belongs to another completely different film! It has some good performances so I'm sure with a better production this could have been a half decent film.

There are also strange canned sounds and background dialogue breaking into the sound mix. I thought that it seemed to be experimental rather than just poor production.

Agreed. When Carrie Fisher is in her kitchen the opening and closing of cupboards sounds like a percussion soundtrack with nothing to punctuate. But whole films seems rushed and undercooked so perhaps they just slapped the soundtrack on in too much of a hurry.
