Best Movie Ever...Yea...1st post!!

i cant believe no one has posted on this board. this is a great movie. and i just found out tonight that the author who wrote this book wrote Alice...which became the screenplay Wildflower. Two good movies, both set in rural south circa 1930's. Fantastic!!

I am SHOCKED also that no one has posted about this film!!!! It was very good, and the movie dared to be more 'raw' and realistic than a lot of T.V movies. Important issues like racism, child abuse, and stereotypes were discussed.
The movie "Wildflower" was terrific, Patricia Arquette was never better than in that film. She deserved that award. The book was not so great, I thought. I would like to read the book based on this film though, if I can find it.

I read Sudie and Alice. I thought they were both fantastic.
Sudie and Simpson was very good, I thought the character of Simpson was more gentle in the book, in the film he's harsh sometimes.

I saw Wildflower too. Okay movie, book was WAY better and I love Patricia Arquette.

I saw this movie when it first came out, a couple of times maybe, but I haven't seen it since then... it never occurred to me to check IMDB when I finally got "computerized" to see what others thought about it... I thought it was absolutely excellent! I can watch just about anything that has Lou Gossett, Jr. in it, anyway... but it was the entire movie and the stories it told that I loved... wish I could find it on DVD.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it.

wooo...a million years later

i've since gone on to purchase dvds of both this and wildflower. fairly cheaply. i also found the books of Alice: a novel and Sudie: a novel (i believe those are the names) and both books are fairly worn, but 'readable,' and cost about a quid plus shipping. under 5 bucks.

i read them so long ago, i dont even remember the diffs btw film and books, but i remembered enjoying all four!

Some people call it a Cul-de-sac. I call it a Dead End
