Remake of Stella Dallas??

I just watched Stella Dallas from 1937 with Barbara Stanwyck and couldn't help thinking that this movie was a more modern remake. I couldn't find any info. from either movie indicating so. Just wondering if anyone else agreed?

Yes, it is definitely a remake of "Stella Dallas".

It's a really, really AWFUL remake of the beloved classic.

Well, sort of. Stella is the latest adaptation of the 1920 book called Stella Dallas. It's been made into 3 movies, one being Stella Dallas, starring Stanwyck.

I know of the original and Stella the remake with Bette Midler but what is the third one?

"Stella Dallas", a silent film released in 1925 was technically the original movie, based on the book. Then came another "Stella Dallas" in 1937, starring Barbara Stanwyck, and then "Stella" in 1990. The book, "Stella Dallas", was published in 1923.
