Black Donnellys?

I've heard this was based on a book inspired by a true story and I remember that being the case for that Black Donnellys show on TV as well. Does anyone know if these are the same sources? I can see a similarity between the brothers who are placed in tight situations due to their natural recklessness, except they were protagonists in the show and antagonists in this movie.

I love The Black Donnellys tv show and I love this movie. The Black Donnellys is very slightly based off an Irish-Canadian family in the late 1800's. State of Grace is based on the real Hell's Kitchen gang, the Westies.

The Black Donnellys is a joke. It is pop-culture meets what the public thinks about Irish people. They do not come off as Irish- they come off as Ireland, 90210. Have fun with that. ;)

To each his or her own. Personally, I enjoy the show because the focus is on the characters and their problems. I find it to be a good ensemble piece. Like I said, I enjoy it. To each his or her own.
