Frankie and Kate's relationship

Did anyone pick up on anything weird between Frankie and Kate? The way he acts toward her is just odd.

reply

Yeah, I kept thinking that it was more of a father/daughter relationship. But it could be that he was just a lot older than her, and maybe their father hadn't been around much when she was young.

Yeah I got a really weird vibe going on between them like they used to see each other or something and they're supposed to be siblings, kinda twisted my stomach.

Yes, I noticed the same mystifying chemistry between Oldman and Wright. On the other hand I saw similar situations between him and many other female co-stars ;))

Well he's clearly a control freak, and sees Kate as disloyal to the family because she's chosen to leave Hell's Kitchen for a better life. He tries to act like he's just protective of her, but really he just wants her to control her.

He molested her when they were kids, its pretty obvious. But it was never spoken of during the movie at all. He is also in love with her in more than a sister/brother kind of way. Frankie was a bad seed, but he still knew that what he was doing was wrong (hence the scene he drops the crumbs on the floor) Jackie was the real good one caught up in a bad mess.

Interesting interpretation. Never thought of it, but yeah, there is something very powerful and damaging between them. Would have been interesting to go deeper into it.

She's so composed when Terry meets her again in the bar with Jackie, so put together.

Then she FLIPS out in Terry's flat, you see how hard she's worked to keep together her composure, and it's all for naught.

Years of watching her brothers hurt people, even kill people, has had a SERIOUS effect on her.

Yes, she's cold. It's how she's been able to survive in this world.
