Is it just me, or is this movie a mess? *SPOILERS*

Frankie was the worst boss ever, and his motivations for everything made no sense. Had he been this dumb (and directly involved in the killings etc.) in real life, he would have been killed or jailed in days. Crime syndicates survive because even though they are criminals they stick together. In this one it was just a mess of people all doing whatever they wanted. This whole plot was a tangled mess and none of it made sense. Frankie kills people for hundreds of dollars, the cop storyline was stupid, and it just was incredibly simplistic compared to other gangster films. P.S. Robin Wright's explosion in Terry's apartment was supposed to be serious, but was the best teenage style tantrum ever filmed. Hilarious. This was a waste of time.

God, where do I start pulling apart your post...

Can I even be bothered?

He knew that the neighbourhood was disappearing. The only way his organization was to survive was to mob up with the Mafia, a secret society that has existed for YEARS since Sicily. Every boss needs a vision, a plan for the future, Frankie wanted more years.......

The plot made no sense? Really? A cop drafted undercover to expose a criminal conspiracy? That confused you?

The scene in Terry's apartment was to show how YEARS of watching her brothers tear people apart had ruined her psychologically. She'd tried to remain composed and in control, new job, moving away, but when Terry moves back, he threatened all of that. Great acting by the way, by Robin Wright Penn.

Waste of time.

So, you didn't think Gary Oldman was absolutely SENSATIONAL as Jackie Flannery?

Please, compound your error by telling me that not only did you hate the film, but that Oldman was bad too?????

If your response was in any way, shape, or form decent and respectful then I'd bother to respond back, but it wasn't, so I won't. Try to remember that all posts are opinions, and even if you don't agree, you can still talk to someone else like a human being, instead of acting like you were personally offended and need to be a condescending moron. Another one to add to the ignore list.

reply

Okay, that's fair.

My sincere apologies.

Is it possible to get a response now?

I am curious.

You have to read " the Westies" by JR England. It is a true story about the Irish gang in Hells kitchen. The Irish gang was simply crazy. They were not well organized like the Italians, But at the same time the mafia had to take them into consideration because of the control they had of a vast area of the city. The characters in the movie depicted the real life gang members. Many of the scenes actually happened. The Westies only included about 20 or 25 members, As opposed to the area mafia which included hundreds.
Take Whitey Bulger 's gang out of Boston. Much more organized for sure. Whitey took part in assassinations all the time. I am not patronizing these gangs, But the leaders of these Irish gangs would partake in the battles Just like Kings of ancient times would lead their troops into battle. Not only will the leaders of the Italian Mafia not do a hit, They put four or five buffers between them and the victim. Anyway read the book.
