OLDMAN's BEST...PERIOD

I have seen most of Oldman's films. I think this is his best work. His Hell's Kitchen accent is flawless. I used to live there I know....

I love him as Stansfield too in The Professional....but this was his best role ...

Agree? Disagree?

He was incredible in this.

It is one of my favorite performances by him.

Agree. This is Oldman`s best ever.

"Prick up Your Ears" and "Sid and Nancy" are strong contestants.

I also agree. He was my favorite actor for several years and though he's been stellar in many other films, I think this stands out far and above as his best performance.

Has anyone ever seen or read an interview with Oldman where he mentions what he thinks is his best role?

reply

Glad to see some guys on here digging his performance! quality acting and excellant movie, if underrated!

reply

His best performance ever. Agreed.. I'd love to see him in something this great again.. he was also really good in JFK and The Contender. But it depresses me to see him play these worthless parts in the Batman and Harry Potter movies..

reply

Totally agree he needs a big juicy role to get his teeth into.

He's incredible in everything he's been in. He's definitely one of the best modern-day actors of our time. This performance of his is in my top 3, along with Stansfield and Dracula.

while you have to look hard to find a role where oldman isn't great in , i tend to agree that this was one of his best ever...ever

his mannerisms, bursts of rage and for lack of a better word, the scumminess, he projects in this film are really incredible...one of those roles where you leave there feeling happy to have seen someone so great at his (or her) craft

outstanding.

he'd roll over on his mommy, his daddy, his two panty granny and the f'in king of siam

Yes he gave a very powerfull performance Stole the movie in my opinion

Brilliant performance.

You could almost smell the whiskey coming off the screen whenever Gary was on.

Happy Paddy's Day

Gary Oldman definitely kicked ass in State of Grace. Another great Oldman performance that comes to mind is his role as the degenerate Apache Pimp Drexel Spivey in True Romance. "We got everything here from a diddle-eyed joe to damned if I know." haha

"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself"

reply

Drexl was the best! LMAO, that roll is priceless. Not a bad movie either.

reply

Ok, yes this was a fantastic performance, but come on...

His best IMO is Sid and Nancy....

Last Movie Watched:
State of Grace (1990) - 8/10

If you liked him in State of Grace then you will like him in Romeo is Bleeding. His NY accent is flawless is that as well. He is hands down the best actor in films alive today. The only reason he doesn't get all the juicy roles is because he is not drop dead gorgeous.
