Release Date?

I thought I remembered seeing this on IMDb, released in 1990. I'm hoping it actually was released in 1988, because it sure seems to me like a damn good 80's flick. One thing I hated about it was that it appeared to be a 90's flick. I'm crossing my fingers though.
