Snake Eater is pure genius. That they could combine a perfect script, visionary direction, inspired Shakespearean performances with a grammy-worthy soundtrack is nothing short of a miracle. Snake Eater excels on every level imaginable and unimaginable. Could be the #1 date movie of the year. It's like Commando meets The Bourne Identity meets Citizen Kane meets Corky Romano. One day Snake Eater will be playing in every museum in the world to illustrate the potential of the human spirit. It's as if they took every passage of the bible and were able to put it in one movie. Watch this movie every single day of your life and know what it means to experience nirvana.

Hahahahaha!!! Well said Bellinghop, well said!! I wonder how many people werent sure what to do with their lives, wandering aimlessly throughout their 20's, 30's, 40's, even their 50's---then they see Snake Eater---and it all makes sense!! Like a Moment of Clarity with brass knuckles, you get hit with it and nothing is ever the same...you just know what it is you were put on this Earth to do, and you start DOING it! Now THAT is the power of destiny, and THAT, my friends, is the power of Snake Eater!!!! :P

Come on, we all know that it didn't win any, but that was almost inevitable; after all, artistic breakthroughs of such staggering genius are rarely appreciated in their own time.

However, I do know for a fact that the studio campaigned hard for a Supporting Actor nod for Richie Berathay for his performance as "Karate Biker", to no avail. My uncle works for MGM and he knows about these things.

But I see it more as Commando meets Deliverance meets Death Wish II meets Cobra.
