I've ordered this movie from Suncoast Video, but haven't received it yet (sometime next week, probably), but I'll venture a guess as to why the Skipper gets killed at the end:

Jürgen Prochnow gets killed in almost every movie he's in! I think it's in his contract, or something.

I'll post again after watching the flick and see if I can give you a better guess.

Uh, okay, I've seen it now.

Why does Lou kill Der Skipper? I dunno. They couldn't think of any other way to end this torture-fest?

Nothing about this movie made sense. I think somebody had some money, wanted to do a movie with two sexy bimbos and a good actor in a bad role (Prochnow), on a sailboat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Then, they ran out of money, so instead of having some scenes that led up to Lou's grabbing the spear gun, they pretty much jumped from the second love scene to the spear-gun scene.

Good-night, Jürgen!

Years ago a men's magazine I was reading referred to a four star, full nudity lesbian love scene between Lou and Su, played by Hurley and Kensit. I have, however, never been able to find any version of "Kill Cruise" that had said scene.

Yet it makes sense, given the completely implausible reversal in Lou's motivations toward the Skipper. How does she get from saving his life by retrieving his insulin and then taking him as her lover to killing him with a harpoon? This points to a deleted scene.

This is pure speculation but suppose that the missing love scene between Lou and Su resulted in getting the Skipper so aroused that he has his way with Su while Lou watches? Does he force himself on Su, who does not seem to like men very much, which might change Lou's feeling toward him? Is Lou revolted or jealous? Does she confront him later and he reacted in a way that changes her feeling for him to murderous hostility? Its hard to say, but the possibilites growing out of the reputed missing scene look promising for making sense out of an otherwise inexplicable ending.
