Is this movie any gory, or is it only disturbing in a boring subtle way?

It is gorey as hell, and just has a palpable feel of sickness to it. You need to recover from seeing it. At the same time its beautiful. Watch it and YOU try and describe it. I give up. Great movie. Not Boring!!!!!
sharesorry, but I found it rather dull... fetishism bores me to begin with, and I found the movie sorta pointless. Yeah, it was "extreme" and "gorey", but it's so relentless, that you get numb to it's "extreme" style pretty quick.

no, sorry. I'm not a prude and my fetishes are not terribly over the top; I'm not inhibited about my sexuality, etc., and am quite open and frank with it. as for being desensitized, I doubt that too. no, it's just this film didn't do it for me. the extreme fetishism just ain't my thing. simple as that. And if you take that aspect of the film out, then the film doesn't have much -for me- going on. That said, it was very well-made/photographed/acted/etc. I appreciated the look of it a lot... it's just the actual narrative left me cold.

I just wanted to comment that's it's ridiculous to say that everyone has fetishes. To say that every person on planet Earth obsessively requires a specific object (whether inanimate or human) to become sexually aroused is completely false. I imagine you yourself are a fetishist and just took this opportunity to justify your feelings.
Actually there's no make-up effects, unless you count some animal guts and blood being thrown around. You'll never see any gore on an actual character. That said, it's not the kind of film that needs effects.

Gore itself is f~cking boring, i think; disturbing the audience in a subtle way is much more effective overall. As for the fetishism and whatnot, i found it quite disturbing in a lot of areas because I'm not into fetishism at all... it's an absurd thing to begin with, and this movie takes it over the top most of the time. This is a very nasty film in a psychological sense - it's something that creeps into your brain to haunt you later. Leave the amateurish horror film 'shocks' [ Hahaha ] to painfully bad films like Hostel.
For what it was, i loved this movie. =D
