Why called Singapore Sling

Anyone has any idea why the movie is named Singapore Sling? How is it related to Singapore?

reply

I think it is the name of a drink. The male character's favourite. It is mentioned somewhere in the film.

Look at the cast, the main character's name is "Singapore Sling".

i just read a synopsis for this movie on mrskins shop site while looking for this movie and the plot said, the reason he is called singapore sling is because when the mother and daughter found him, he couldn't speak, so that's what they nicknamed him

reply

Yes, and the only reason they call him that is because they found the drink recipe in his pocket. It's a HILARIOUS running joke! I crack up every time they say it!

reply

Yes...is there any connection to Preminger's Laura, possibly? That would be the right era for that type of drink. I haven't seen that film in a while. It would be interesting to see it now.

There is a superficial connection.

Laura felt incredibly dated when I watched it recently. It didn't age well at all.

Laura's a great film. It also heavily influenced 'Twin Peaks'. Missing girl named Laura anyone?

reply

Jesus, you people... follow a movie to the far end of a fart, it's still a movie!
