Caine's most under rated film!
This is one of the best Caine films ever and is hardly ever seen. I have the region 2 copy of it and I suggest anyone who likes Caine and loves a good film should check it out!

Agree completely. It is a fun and so entertaining movie which balances
a fine line between being a dark comedy and a serious drama. Easily
one of Sir Michael Caine's most underrated and unseen movies. And
I thoroughly enjoyed his performance in this gem of a movie!

Agreed! This is a gem of a film and it's one of those things I hadn't heard about until a friend told me to check it out.
Unusual and delightfully unexpected ending.

I also agree. Michael Caine is superb in this. He's generally cast in supporting roles, but he pulled off the lead here with aplomb.
share"supporting roles"?! are you crazy? (l.o.l.)
how 'bout a little research pardner:

and, it's "sir michael caine." the man has been a lead character actor as long as you've been able to speak, most likely.
this performance is really just another walk-in-the-park great one for him.
the facial expressions; especially the grimace, with the teeth bared when he's about to get angry (l.o.l.) subtlety is one of his best actor traits.
see "alfie," if nothing else.

You are right: Michael Caine has plenty of lead roles to his credit, along with plenty of supporting roles as well.
I've always thought that supporting players often make a bigger impression than the leads, and in Sir Michael's case, that's almost always the case.
One of the best line(s) ever.
"He was, your superior, wasn't he?"
"No. He. Was my boss."

I totally agree! Awesome movie!
shareAlong with a few other little films, like The Whistle Blower or The Quiet American, yes.
