He knows, but he doesn't know that he knows!

1. This film is not made to be watched by brain or intellect only. You watch it with all of your 5 (five) senses (yes, nose included). Don't only watch it, feel it by whole of your being.

2. Parts of the movie are made of elements, out of which our dreams are made so don't try to rationalize or 'understand' the complete movie in one sitting or discussion. Dreams are to be dreamt and not to be explained. For those who don't agree, the book upon which the movie is based is always there but then books are never the films they are transformed into and films are never the books they are based upon!

3. Dreams are, in fact, underlined prominently in the script of the movie itself, by name.

4. I, for myself, even fancied that the whole Tuareg episode of the film is an elaborate dream of Kit (Debra Winger).

5. I also feel that Kit stayed in Africa and not left for the home, at the end of the movie.
